Children's Today

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta cares for more than half a million patients annually and operates three hospitals in metro Atlanta:

  • 520 staffed beds in three children's hospitals
  • 16 neighborhood locations, including:
    • Four Immediate Care Centers
    • One Primary Care Center
    • Marcus Autism Center
  • More than 7,500 employees
  • Access to more than 1,600 pediatric physicians
  • 6,500 volunteers

Children’s is the largest Medicaid provider in the state, serving eight out of 10 pediatric inpatient Medicaid cases in Atlanta and four out of 10 statewide. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is committed to providing medically needed healthcare to the children of Georgia. In 2008, Children’s provided $103 million in unreimbursed care to patients.

As you read this, lifesaving work is happening in our three hospitals—from heart transplants to surgeries to remove brain tumors. Caring for more than half a million patients each year, Children’s is the largest pediatric provider in Georgia—and one of the largest in the country. In 2008, we treated children from all 159 Georgia counties. It doesn't stop there.

In 2009, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta managed:

  • 599,420 patient visits
  • 282,856 unique patients (from all 159 counties in Georgia)
  • 25,346 hospital admissions
  • 142,848 inpatient days
  • 574,074 outpatient visits
  • 38,734 surgical procedures (inpatient and outpatient)
  • 197,586 Emergency department visits
  • 116,369 Immediate Care Center visits
  • 49,275 Primary Care visits
