High School Connection
As a high school student, how many times have you been asked the question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Healthcare careers are a part of our future. You are able to specialize in a variety of areas, work in different clinical settings, and help patients and their families too.
The purpose of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta high school outreach program is to inform interested students of all the resources and options available while pursuing a healthcare career.
Building Brighter Futures for Healthcare
Deia Chappell is currently a Senior at Georgia Baptist School of Nursing at Mercer University, who has a promising future as a nurse. She was the 2004-2005 recipient of the Occupations Scholarship provided by Children’s High School Outreach Program. Her confidence and dedication to pursuing a career in healthcare at such a young age left a lasting impressing on the scholarship committee.
Meet Deia
| "I have always had a love for science and helping others, so I knew I wanted to do something with medicine. I decided to go into nursing because I am a very compassionate person, and I love to interact with people. Nurses are able to build realtionships with the patients and that really appealed to me." |
